Home Business Network Marketing Success

Has anyone told you what it takes to achieve home business network marketing success? When I was researching home-based businesses, numerous network marketers tried to recruit me into their programs. Not one of them told me what it really took to be successful.

Having been in business for many years, and having been in sales, I had a pretty good idea of what needed to be done to achieve home business network marketing success. However, I always thought it was interesting how no one ever told me the real scoop. I wondered, "Why?" Well, because either:

1) The person recruiting you doesn't want to deliver what they think might be regarded as "bad news" and thus "scare you off" or

2) The person really does not know what it takes or even exactly what they themselves did to achieve success.

You will hear people in network marketing talk about "duplicating yourself" and how duplicating yourself is the way that you achieve home business success. But, duplicating yourself is the same thing as creating leverage and it's not answering the question. So, again, how does one effectively leverage themselves to create success?

Let me stress "effectively." You'll here a ton of suggestions on how to create leverage, but which approaches are effective? It's important to consider this because if not done effectively you'll simply spin your wheels, waste your time, become frustrated, get aggravated, and possibly conclude that "network marketing doesn't work."

So, let's get down to the basics of what one has to do to experience home business network marketing success. I'll sum it up in one word:

Prospect.

A person who knocks on 100 doors a day, even if he barely speaks English, will have far more home business network marketing success than a person who only knocks on 2.

It's that simple. Yup. It's a numbers game. First and foremost, home business network marketing success requires playing a numbers game.

But there is more. You can play the numbers game by working really hard, or you can play the numbers game by working smarter. If you want to work the numbers game smarter, then realize that within the numbers game you can play the sorting game.

Please note that I'm not suggesting that you go out and knock on 100 doors a day in order to have the level of home business success that you want. My point is this: How are you distributing the time that you spend on the various activities related to your business?

You see, most network marketers spend the least amount of time prospecting for customers and new distributors. Most network marketers spend the majority of their time on non-revenue generating tasks (organizing, crunching numbers, reading about products, creating forms and spreadsheets, chit chatting, etc.).

How much time should you spend prospecting for new distributors and customers in order to achieve the kind of home business network marketing success that you want?

Here are specific guidelines:

1) Spend 50% of the time you work on your business on prospecting. For example, if you've decided that you're going to contribute 20 hours a week toward your business, then spend 10 hours a week prospecting for customers and new distributors.

2) Spend less time on paperwork, organizing, socializing, etc.

3) Once you have achieved the home business network marketing success you want, then spend a larger percentage of your time coaching, training, and leading.

At this point you might be thinking:

  • But, how do I prospect?
  • What do I say?
  • What if people say no - I just don't handle rejection well.

    The answer to these questions is: Learn how to prospect effectively.

    Maybe you're thinking, "The above questions don't apply to me. I know how to prospect." Let me ask you this, " Are you getting the results you want with your home business network marketing?" If not, then perhaps you also need to learn how to prospect effectively.
