The number of flourishing home based business is on the rise and the internet a providing a huge impetus to the industry by creating an ever increasing number of jobs that can be done from the comfort of your home. But what kinds of people really opt to start a home based entrepreneur?
There are broadly three kinds of people who are likely to start a home based business. The Natural Entrepreneur: People who are innovative, creative and not shy of taking risks are most attracted to a home based business. They come up with an idea, find ways and means to promote it and find themselves running a successful home based operation. The idea can involve making and selling a product, or selling a service that focuses on the skill of the entrepreneur. A number of large, successful companies like Google and Apple started out as a home based businesses run by innovative entrepreneurs.
Stay At Home Parents: A lot of men and women find themselves torn between the demands of a regular job and the responsibility of raising their children. Especially when their children are at a very young age and need constant care and attention, inability or undesirability of child care, mothers may be forced to consider keeping a regular job. Whether it is a decision made out of circumstances or a personal choice to give more attention to one’s child, home based businesses offer mothers the time they need to spend with their children without giving up on making an income.
Unemployed: There are a number of people who do not enter the arena of home based business out of choice. These people are youngsters, just out of college, who haven’t been able to find a job but they need to have an income. Similarly, people who have lost their jobs also turn to home based businesses to generate income to replace the one they earned at a regular job.
For most such people, a home based business a merely a temporary arrangement of income, until they can get themselves suitable employment. But, given today’s market crisis, it is becoming more and more difficult to find a well paying regular job, and home based businesses are slowly becoming the norm.
Of course, there are other groups of people who have made the transition from a regular job to pursue their home based business ventures including self motivated individuals who simply want to drop the commute and avoid the drama of inner office politics. Disabled people also have turned to work online as a way to supplement their income without having to leave their homes, and college kids have started up profitable dot com sites to aid with the cost of tuition.
